Engineering & Cybersecurity Girls teamed up to attend the Women Leaders in STEM conference on March 5, 2019 in celebration of International Women’s week. The event was hosted by the Center for Advancement of Women in Engineering and the UNF College of Computer, Engineering and Construction.
Digital Media students teamed up with CHS’s Digital Video Technology course to tour the news station at Action News Jax. Students had the opportunity to view a live broadcast, play with TV production equipment, and pose in one of the various sets for the show.
Within Nease’s Stellar Academy of Engineering, Communications Academy, and the St. Johns County Academy of Hospitality and Tourism, the relationships between the Academy programs and the business partners provide a variety of opportunities to help expand our students’ education through assemblies, field trips and competition judging.
CHS FBLA participated in their Annual FBLA State Leadership Conference over spring break. There were around 4200 students competing in approximately 60 different events.
Creekside senior, Tarynn Kaelin, was surprised with a $10,000 scholarship at CHS’ Academy of Engineering & Environmental Sciences Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday April 10th. Advisory Board Member, Jacob Thurlow, from Haskell presented the award on behalf of the ACE Mentoring Program.
Recently, Digital Design students traveled to Leonard’s Studio, located in St. Augustine. The students had the opportunity to tour the facility, getting a first-hand look at the digital design work, photography and videography services, and printing processes that take place on-site.
In a first for the Communications Academy, Sports Media students were invited to tour TIAA Bank field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. During the visit, students saw Daily’s Place, practice fields, the FriEnd Zone, and went behind the scenes at the stadium.
