While COVID restrictions have put a hold on in-person guest speaker events for the 2020-21 school year, Academy students still had the opportunity to meet with professionals in the classroom via virtual platforms.
This year, Nease’s Academies have offered a multitude of virtual guest speaker events to our students. Communications Academy guests have included News Anchor John Bachman with Action News Jax; David Begley, UNF’s Chair of Art and Design Programs; Jamie Johnson, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Digital Relations Officer; and Teryn Gregson, show host with PGA Tour Entertainment. The Stellar Academy of Engineering has welcomed Matt Clancy, Engineering and Business Development Manager; Brittany Wright, Aerospace Engineer with the United States Navy; and Kim Holland, Civil & Transportation Engineer and Vice President with RS & H. Nease’s Academy of Hospitality & Tourism has featured virtual guest speaker visits from David Rivera, Director of the Hospitality & Tourism Management Department with Flagler College; and Mianne Williams, Senior Manager of Private Events.
While we look forward to bringing guests back in person next school year, these virtual events have allowed our students to learn more about the engineering, communications, and hospitality opportunities beyond their high school experience. We thank all of these business partners for taking time out of their busy schedules to share their expertise and advice with our Academy students!
