Students in ACE (architecture, construction, and engineering) as well as students in the Academy of Innovation in the Built Environment were treated to a full day of learning courtesy of Innovative Construction Group and Pulte Homes.
Students started their day by touring Innovative Construction Group’s (ICG) plant to see how walls, floors, and ceiling trusses get manufactured right there in the plant before being delivered to a job site to be assembled. Students were able to see a lot of high tech manufacturing and robots, which was especially exciting for those students also in the Academy of Leadership in Emerging Technologies. Students were able to hear about the computer aided design software that ICG uses and the career paths of several different employees.
Next students went to the main office for Pulte Homes and were able to learn about permits, procurement, finance, land acquisition, and home design. They were able to learn about many careers that exist within the construction and home-buildling industry that they previously may not have known existed.
Next students went to Del Webb Nocatee and were able to watch ICG install the roof trusses that had been premanufactured back in the plant. Students were able to tour homes in different stages of construction and learn about design choices when walking through the model homes.
Innovative Construction Group and Pulte Homes gave these students the experience of a lifetime and one they will certainly not forget.
