Thankfully, 30 Toros returned from a field trip to Miller Electric with only shocking information and no actual electrical shocks. Students in the Academy of Innovation in the Built Environment enjoyed a tour of Miller Electric’s main campus in Jacksonville. Students were able to see the pre-fabrication area, BIM software in action, and impressive office suites.
Following the tour at Miller, students travelled to the Electrical Training Alliance of Jacksonville to learn about the apprenticeship programs offered by the ETA. Students were able to test out their skills at bending conduit, appreciate the need for high school mathematics, and see the actual training areas used by year 1-5 apprentice electricians going through the program.
