The Ponte Vedra High School Academy of International Business provides students with the tools they need to start achieving their business career dreams. PVHS senior Emmett Hoffmann took full advantage of these resources to kickstart his future in finance. Emmett’s path included an intensive summer internship, competition at a state and national level for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and a leadership role as an Academy Ambassador.
Emmett began his six-week, 120 hour finance internship with a local medical device manufacturer in June 2025. He collaborated daily with the CFO to prepare the company for an initial public offering. His primary responsibility was compiling financial data from the manufacturer’s publicly traded peers for analysis. Through his work, Emmett gained real-world experience utilizing many different Microsoft applications including Outlook, Copilot, Power Point, Word, Excel, Teams, and more. His internship culminated with a presentation of his findings to the executive leadership team, including the CEO.
Through three years of competition, Emmett made a name for himself in PVHS’s FBLA club. The International Business Academy’s curriculum and his rigorous studying landed him a 5th place finish in the state and a national qualification for accounting 1. The following year, he achieved a 1st place finish in the district for accounting 2.
Emmett’s business academy success led to him being awarded the role of Academy Ambassador. He has represented PVHS at a number of events where he educated prospective students and their parents about the academy’s offerings.

Emmett’s story represents the development of a young business leader. The Academy of International Business, along with extracurriculars like FBLA, have equipped Emmett with the skills, certifications, and access to real-world experience to excel at a professional level while still in high school. More importantly, they have set him up for success in college and beyond as he pursues a finance career.
