Nease Communications Academy Students Win Zoo Film Competition

Nease Communications Academy Wired students are celebrating after winning a local video competition sponsored by Gemstone Media & The Jacksonville Zoo. Nease’s team represented one of 8 local schools to answer the challenge to create a three-minute news story about an assigned animal or exhibit featured at the Zoo. Nease was assigned to cover the brand-new Manatee Habitat, and spent a day at the zoo interviewing professionals and getting video of the animals. Then, live on a special broadcast of First Coast News, it was announced that Nease’s team had won the grand prize! Congratulations to Communications Academy Wired students Lauren Adams, Gabe Pafford, Mariella Love, Lyla Gillespie, Robin Hickey, Paxton Beidle, Katy Vega, Bella Williams, Olivia Dhas and Juliana Weldon! And a big thanks to their teacher, Mrs. Jacobi, who knew that our students could take on this challenge! The program won a trophy live on the air, and will receive a $1,000 donation check at Nease on  March 11th.
