The Nease Communications Academy’s Award-Winning daily newscast, Wired, featured a special guest anchor, First Coast News Anchor Anthony Austin, on Friday, November 17th. Wired’s Executive Producer, Communications Academy student Connor Dunwoodie, reached out to Mr. Austin to share details about Nease’s news program, and invited him to come co-anchor one of the daily broadcasts. Mr. Austin graciously agreed, and joined the Wired crew for the filming of a news show. Beyond that, he stayed to be a guest speaker in one of the Advanced Television Production classes following the show. Nease’s daily newscast, Wired, was named as the #1 Daily Taped High School News Broadcast in the Southeastern United States by the Student Television Network in 2016-17. The program’s students also won the first place award in the Morning News Show Broadcast competition at the 2017 Student Television Network convention.
