Bartram Trail’s project took second place. Four area high school engineering teams were tasked with creating a vision of the future. The teams were to design and build a replacement for the Main Street Bridge by incorporating engineering solutions combined with unconventional approaches to cross the St. Johns River. UNF engineering students, the American Society of Civil Engineers and The Jacksonville Post of the Society of American Military Engineers participated in the outreach project to encourage high school students to pursue civil engineering degrees. Judging was done by a panel of UNF faculty and area engineers. (Photos by Bruce Lipsky/Florida Times-Union)
