This year, Nease’s senior-level Stellar Academy of Engineering classes are taking part in the ACE Mentor Competition Program, in which students work on specialized projects, released to schools across our area, to compete in hopes to be named the best RFP (request for proposal), among area schools. During the creation of these projects, professionals from various disciplines in the engineering industry, or related to the industry, will come in to speak with the students and share insight as to how to best align their proposals to industry standards. Our first guest speaker was Director of Civil Engineering for Stellar, Tim Focht. Mr. Focht shared information on a few of the civil engineering projects tackled by Stellar, delivered insight into the multi-faceted world that a civil engineer has to consider when working on a project, and offered advice on areas of consideration/concern regarding the three different ACE projects. We thank Mr. Focht for taking the time to work with our students, and are looking forward to the future guest speakers from the industry we will be welcoming in coming weeks.
