Creekside senior, Tarynn Kaelin, was surprised with a $10,000 scholarship at CHS’ Academy of Engineering & Environmental Sciences Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday April 10th. Advisory Board Member, Jacob Thurlow, from Haskell presented the award on behalf of the ACE Mentoring Program. ACE, which stands for Architecture Construction Engineering, is an after school club that focuses on guiding high school students who are pursuing careers in architecture, engineering and construction through mentoring and support as students navigate relevant field experiences through high school. Students spend two hours a week with their mentors, constructing engineering designs through project based learning, which they will present at a Regional ACE Competition at Universtiy of North Florida on April 26th. Tarynn will be putting her scholarship toward expenses at the University of Miami where she will major in Architecture.
