Pedro Menendez High School Student Shines at National SkillsUSA Competition

Casey Chhour proudly represented Pedro Menendez High School, St. Johns County School District, and the State of Florida at the SkillsUSA National Leadership Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 23–27, 2025. Competing in the prestigious Architectural Drafting Competition, Casey went head-to-head with top students from 43 other states—each a winner of their respective State Leadership Conference.

The rigorous competition included a Professional Development test, an architectural knowledge exam, and both a CAD-based practical drawing and a hand sketch. Casey’s exceptional performance earned him third place nationally, a remarkable achievement in what judges described as the closest contest in years—just 12 points separated first and third place, compared to a 100-point gap in 2024.

Casey is now a back-to-back State Champion and National Medalist, a testament to his talent, dedication, and hard work. His accomplishments reflect not only personal excellence but also the strength of Pedro Menendez High School and the broader educational community in Florida.

Congratulations, Casey, on this outstanding achievement!
