Students in all three academies at Tocoi Creek High School were invited to hear a presentation by Medtronic Electrical Engineer Saks Tongkhuya in honor of Engineering Week. Mr. Tongkhuya was able to help students see how engineering can play a role in multiple fields, specifically in medical devices and aerospace. Students thought about how critical problem solving skills are in the engineering field. Innovative thinking and pushing existing boundaries has allowed advancements in devices such as the pacemaker. Students were able to make see how important something like the size of a circuit and battery can be when it comes to a medicine dispensing equipment that is put under the skin.
