Guest Speakers Liven Up Academy Classrooms

We enjoyed a busy week filled with Guest Speakers in our Academy classes.  The Academy of Hospitality & Tourism at Nease welcomed Jon Clinton and Kelly Smith, of Caesars Entertainment. Jon Clinton, Director of Sales, and Kelly Smith, Vice President of Sales, shared a behind the scenes look at how group event and meeting sales can be a major part of the hospitality industry. Both guests shared their professional journey in the world of hospitality, along with an inside look at how events, conventions, and meetings for major groups and corporations are booked, and then executed, on a grand scale.  This was a wonderful chance for students to learn about a different sector of the hospitality industry, and how their classroom skills could translate into professional success.

In the Stellar Academy of Engineering, we welcomed our last ACE mentor guest speakers of the year: Ryan Snow and Mark Harvey. These Project Executives with Gilbane Building Company provided senior engineering students with a look at how construction projects are budgeted for, and how construction scheduling works.  Both of these aspects are included in the senior class ACE RFP project, so this was a chance for students to get some tips and tricks from the experts, who also offered advice on finding success in the industry after college.

The same day, Dave Mueller, a CAD Manager with Stellar’s Virtual Design & Construction team, spoke with students during Excel time about the rise of Virtual Reality design in the world of engineering. He told students about his background in engineering, showed them some projects he has worked on, and offered advice to students who are interested in pursing a career in Engineering.

Thank you to all of our amazing guest speakers!
