On April 20th, Nease High School’s gym was packed to the brim with local employers and post-secondary technical schools looking to share their job and training opportunities with Nease students. From the St. Johns County Fire Rescue and Sheriff’s Office, to Military recruiters, to companies like WW Gay, Publix, Brooks Rehabilitation, and GATE Petroleum, to staffing agencies and training schools, Juniors and Seniors explored their options and gathered more information. Some of those in attendance, like Vicar’s Landing, came ready with applications, prepared to start hiring students right away. Others, like the Northeast Florida Builders Association, provided details on their paid apprenticeship program, which includes college credits and on-the-job training, all while earning a paycheck. All in all, hundreds of students were exposed to the many available pathways to a successful and satisfying career.
