Nease Electrathon Team Turns Engineering into Action

On Saturday April 11th the Nease Electrathon Team, which includes students from the Stellar Academy of Engineering, competed at the race at Florida State College Jacksonville Advanced Technology Campus as part of an open house and car show.  Additionally, the teams had the fantastic opportunity to speak with a current professional endurance racing driver who competes in the IMSA series and staff from Jacksonville Universities Engineering department as well.  Nease made a great showing with two cars and full student support.  This was also the debut of the #220 car a new addition this year thanks to generous Sponsorship from Supermarket Solutions Incorporated and Bavarian Rennsport and donation from Publix Charities.  The #550 car was driven by Senior Gabriel Ertl in the first race and Senior Trevor Courson in the second, both drivers did well but an electrical fault in the first race and a mechanical issue in the second affected the total laps.  The #220 car was driven by Junior Kevin Naranjo and Junior Jackson Baker, the #220 car made a great first showing and finished the first race in 1st place but lost the position in the second race.  At the end of the day Nease car #220 took second place with 133 laps and Nease car #550 took 3rd place with 108 laps.  The team showed its grit and Nease Spirit during the second race when damage to a front axle required changing the left front steering joint and brakes during the race.
