Academy of Hospitality & Tourism Students Get a Behind the Scenes Peek at the Jacksonville Airport

While many of us only head to the airport when we’re ready to travel…students in Nease’s Academy of Hospitality and Tourism recently learned that 3,500 people head to the airport every day to report to work.   As part of a behind the scenes tour, students got to see areas that most of us never even knew existed at the Jacksonville International Airport. They got a look at everything from the communication center, to the “war room,” to office spaces, to the TSA checked-baggage search area.  In addition, they learned about all the thought and planning that goes into giving airport-goers the best possible customer experience.  Volunteer programs to provide information, rotating art installations, live music, a Veterans lounge, and even emotional support animals available to help calm nervous flyers are all ways that the Jacksonville Aviation Authority Arts and Culture program are making positive impacts on the customer experience. A big thank you to Nease Academy of Hospitality & Tourism business partner, Danielle Bilbao, for helping to get us this exclusive tour!
